Press release from the Town of Tewksbury: February 26, 2021 Tewksbury, MA – The Zoning Bylaw Committee seeks adoption of a comprehensive rewrite of the Tewksbury Zoning Bylaw at the Annual Town Meeting to be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2021. This recodification includes formatting and consistency updates, revisions, and the addition of new bylaws. A revision of the Zoning Bylaw was originally submitted for Annual Town Meeting on June 24, 2020. It was subsequently withdrawn due to concerns over residents' abilities to safely participate in Town Meeting given the coronavirus pandemic. The final proposed changes include several high-profile topics like changes to the town center, multifamily housing and adult use marijuana. These topics, and others, are explained in further detail in these short videos: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLiF6flIt8vwptkZqJh-RF_rkKFzdAx-Rj A comprehensive review and rewrite of the Tewksbury Zoning Bylaw began in 2016 with the formation of a specialized committee comprised of representatives of the Planning Board and Board of Selectmen, the Building Commissioner, and two residents at-large. The Assistant Town Manager, Steve Sadwick, and Town Planner, Anna McGinty, worked alongside the committee on this project, and facilitated outreach events to solicit resident input throughout the process.
