PEABODY, MA — Peabody residents hearing loud explosion noises on Friday can rest assured they are not related to the very loud explosions many reported hearing and feeling on Tuesday. Peabody police said they are working with Peabody fire and State Police to detonate firework "evidence" behind the police station late Friday morning and early in the afternoon. "There may be some loud noises here, but it is unrelated to the incidents earlier this week," police said. Police have yet to say they have found the cause of the two "explosions" heard and felt by many in the city and some surrounding communities on Tuesday. Residents reported thinking the explosions were coming from their own homes. Police on Wednesday deployed K9 units and drones to investigate and try to find the source of the noises they said they believe originated from the area of Goodwin Circle to downtown Peabody, but have not said if they have determined the source of the mysterious "explosions." Police said anyone with information on the noises should call the non-emergency line at 978-531-1212. "Thank you to all who have reached out and we will continue to inform the community when we have more to add," Peabody police said on Wednesday morning. Did you find this article useful?
