Boston Holding Off On Some Reopening Measures

BOSTON — The city is maintaining its cautious approach regarding the coronavirus by only partially moving ahead with the state's reopening plan. Boston will join the rest of Massachusetts on Monday moving into Phase 3, Step 2 of the process. But not all measures will be immediately adopted — indoor performance venues, certain indoor recreation and live music won't begin until March 22, Mayor Marty Walsh said. "Since the beginning of the #COVID19 pandemic, #Boston has taken a cautious approach to reopening," Walsh tweeted. "We've prioritized the health and safety of our residents, and we've made decisions based on the latest public health data and metrics. We've only moved forward when it's safe." The move pushes back certain parts of reopening to after St. Patrick's Day, which falls on March 17. It will be the second straight St. Patrick's Day significantly impacted by the pandemic.
