WALLINGFORD, CT — Highland Elementary School in Wallingford will remain closed until the middle of next week due to the continued impact of recent quarantining of students and staff, Superintendent of Schools Salvatore Menzo said in an update Friday.
Highland has been operating remotely since Thursday and students were scheduled to return to in-person learning on Monday. However, Menzo said the school will now resume in-person classes on Wednesday, March 3.
All students will follow the full distance learning schedule while the school is closed.
Lunch will still be provided for pickup for students at Sheehan High School each day. It is also available at the HUBCAP on Center Street, according to Menzo.
"We understand that this is an added burden to families," Menzo said in an email to parents. "We sincerely apologize for that; however, we need enough staff to appropriately perform all of the necessary functions of the school.
"We appreciate your support and understanding in these challenging times."
