WALLINGFORD, CT — A Wallingford man has received a $450,000 settlement from the town of North Haven as part of a wrongful arrest lawsuit, according to the New Haven Register.
The Register reports Joseph Arcangelo filed a lawsuit in 2019 against police in North Haven and East Haven, claiming he was identified as the suspect in a Jan. 18, 2018 robbery of an Exxon gas station due to a personal vendetta.
The case against Arcangelo was ultimately dismissed and another man, Bryan Wolfe, was arrested in connection with the robbery.
North Haven First Selectman Michael Freda told the Register that police and the town denied wrongdoing, but preferred to avoid the litigation process since the claim would be paid by insurance.
The East Haven portion of the lawsuit remains pending, according to the Register.
