I smell dead people 2.0 - Night Operations
The Scentsable K9 is excited to offer a unique training experience at Strategic Operations in San Diego on Saturday April 17th from 1500-2130 hours. As K9 professionals, we must train for the environments we may encounter. Searches in dark and sometimes noisy conditions are situations best prepared for in a training environment than during an actual deployment.
Night Ops is designed to expose K9 teams to new and different environments during low light/no light conditions. Distractions such as loud search areas will be presented to the teams to simulate actual search conditions while in a training situation. We are unable to control Mother Nature so based on the natural lighting conditions at the time of the training deployment will determine the amount of difficulty a K9 team may encounter.
Both exterior and interior searches will be conducted. Some search areas will require teams to climb stairs and be in somewhat confined spaces, just like some searches teams could be called upon to perform. Flashlights are required for this event, along with any other lighting devices (headlamps or other lights attached to you or your K9 partner) you be actually use during a real deployment. We will cover the pros and cons of each type of lighting device and how you can make it work best for you.
K9 teams are encouraged to wear their entire deployment kit (Helmets, harnesses, etc.) while performing the training searches. Our Mantra is “Train like you search. Search like you train.”
