MANCHESTER, CT — Manchester police said they confiscated what they called an "automatic rifle" after receiving a threatening complaint Thursday. At 2:27 p.m. Thursday, police were told received about a resident being threatened with a gun on Forest Street. The caller reported that a "Black male named Cory" was possibly leaving the area in a white BMW after pointing a gun at a woman, a police report said. Shortly later, police located on Forest Street a white BMW X5. In the car was 24-year-old Cori Winston, of New Britain, who was confirmed to be the person who made the ]threat, according to a police report. Officers saw a rifle barrel pointing out of a duffle bag located behind the driver seat of the vehicle, a police report indicates. The rifle was determined to be a Norinico 7.62 x 39mm Assault Rifle stolen out of Georgia, according to a police report. A pair of 30-round magazines for the weapon were also in the duffle bag, according to a police report. The automatic weapon seized by Manchester police Thursday. (MPD) The 27-year-old woman who reported the threat said that Winston pointed the gun at her while accusing her to taking money from him, police said. No injuries were reported. Officers seized 1.7 oz. of marijuana and distribution supplies from inside the vehicle. Winston was charged with breach of peace, fifth-degree larceny, first-degree threatening, the theft of a firearm, possession of a high-capacity magazine (two counts), possessing a weapon in a motor vehicle, possession of more than a half-ounce of marijuana, possession with intent to sell, operating a drug factory, possession within 1,500 feet of a school zone, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of drug paraphernalia within 1,500 feet of a school zone, as well as other additional motor vehicle related offenses. He was held overnight on a $250,000 bond and was to appear in court Friday.
