Summit Fire Department Responds To House Fire Saturday Morning

SUMMIT, NJ — The Summit Fire Department successfully put out a fire in the basement of a home on Huntley Road on Saturday morning. One resident was treated for smoke inhalation. According to the city, at 6:29 a.m. on Saturday, Summit firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire at a house on Huntley Road near Eaton Court. "On arrival, firefighters found fire in the basement of the home," the city said. "Crews were able to contain fire to the basement and effectively extinguish it on the lower level." The fire was declared under control at 7:08 a.m. The resident who was treated for smoke inhalation was transported by the Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad to Overlook Medical Center. No injuries were reported to firefighters or first responders. The Summit Police Department assisted at the scene along with Millburn, New Providence, and Springfield and Union fire departments. Fire Departments from Berkeley Heights, Mountainside and Westfield were called to provide station coverage. The fire is being investigated by the Summit Fire Department Investigation Unit.
