Harford County Government Buildings To Reopen After Shutdown

BEL AIR, MD — Harford County will reopen indoor government facilities Monday, March 1. They were closed in November 2020 after coronavirus cases began to see an uptick. Harford Transit LINK, which had been operating on a limited basis, will return to full service. Outdoor parks and recreation facilities will reopen for club sports and non-recreation council programs through each local parks and rec office, according to a statement from Harford County government officials. Recreation programs were allowed to resume Feb. 1. "Harford County's COVID-19 metrics have improved after the winter surge, allowing us to take these next steps in our plan to safely reopen county facilities," County Executive Barry Glassman said in a statement. "Moving forward we still have to keep our guard up by following precautions to limit community spread," Glassman said. Visitors will be required to wear masks and maintain distance. While buildings were closed, county operations continued, as employees staggered their shifts and teleworked to government business carried on as usual. "I want to thank our county employees who have not missed a beat as they continue to serve our citizens throughout the pandemic," Glassman said. Still Virtual Senior centers in Maryland remain closed by executive order of the governor. People who need to conduct county business should make appointments whenever possible and review departmental safety procedures before arriving in person. Most public meetings will continue to be held virtually until further notice. Drop boxes will still be available for people to deliver county documents.
