Santa Cruz County Sheriff Seeking Suspect In January Shooting

SANTA CRUZ, CA – The Santa Cruz Sheriff's Department is seeking a 29-year-old Watsonville man for his suspected connection to a shooting that occurred in Santa Cruz in January and that has already led to the arrest of another man, police said Wednesday. Police have issued a warrant for Daniel Cruz, who is now a suspect in the shooting, which took place Jan. 13 in the 2500 block of Soquel Drive near Winkle Avenue. Sheriff's deputies recently arrested Watsonville resident Daniel Tostado without incident with the assistance of Watsonville Police after they believe that he too, along with a third suspect was involved in the shooting. Police said that the victim in the shooting is expected to survive. Detectives recently developed information on the third suspect who has been identified and who is currently in custody on related charges, police said.
