ORLAND PARK, IL — The Parents for Education (PFE) non-profit organization that aims to establish parental support and involvement in the Orland School District 135 community is hosting a virtual school board candidate forum on March 2, from 7-9 p.m.
The event will include all six candidates currently seeking a seat on the school board. These candidates include James Bax, Nichole Browner, Elizabeth Jobb, Alan Kastengren, Frank Lattyak and Eamon Walsh. Jennifer Tutor is no longer seeking a seat on the board.
According to the PFE, the forum will be moderated by Rick Nogal, the past president of the Consolidated High School District 230 Board of Education, where he served for eight years. Nogal was also the president of the Palos Community Consolidated School District 118 Board of Education, and served two terms. He was recognized by the Illinois Association of School Boards and Illinois State Board of Education as the outstanding school board president in Illinois in 2018. He is a former resident of Orland Park and currently lives in Palos Park
The PFE said candidates will each be given two minutes to share opening remarks, then questions from the audience may be submitted through the webinar chat; selected by PFE volunteers, and read by moderator Nogal. Each candidate will be given two minutes to answer each question and two minutes for closing remarks.
