NOVATO, CA — A Marin County man who was already on probation now faces "multiple" charges after being found with a gun and drugs during a traffic stop on Tuesday, Novato police said in a news release.
Authorities said a Novato officer was patrolling the Nave Drive area around 3:15 p.m. when he noticed a car without proper registration exit the freeway.
The officer pulled over the driver and recognized him as Michael Mossi, a man whose probation terms require that he is searched whenever he encounters law enforcement, police said.
When Mossi's car was searched, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a loaded handgun were found in a compartment, police said. The gun's serial number had also been removed.
Mossi was arrested on multiple charges and booked in the Marin County Jail, police said.
A search of Marin County criminal court records show Mossi has a criminal history in dating back to at least 2004.
