Press release from the City of Reno: February 24, 2021 In our ongoing commitment to keep citizens and media informed, we've summarized the outcomes of a few key agenda items from today's Regular Meeting of the Reno City Council: D.5 - Rental Assistance Funds The City of Reno was awarded $7.7 million in funding for direct rental assistance, utility bill help, and more. These federal award funds would extend existing household deposit funds, and the Reno Housing Authority assistance programs through the end of 2021. C.1 - Sky Tavern Snow Making Water Rights Council unanimously approved the introduction of a lease agreement for water rights to install snow making equipment. The value of the lease would be approximately $2,700. The agreement would be concurrent with the existing lease. C.2 - Panther/West Ranger Road Rezoning Council approved the introduction of a zoning modification that would change approximately three acres from Large Lot Residential zoning to Single-Family Residential. This would allow up to 11 units per acre as opposed to a single unit per acre. This change would be in compliance with the city Master Plan. D.2 - Arlington Avenue Bridges Replacement Council approved updates and design plans for safety and aesthetic changes to the bridges. The project will still include public input and approval under the Nevada Environmental Policy Act. D.3 - Greater Nevada Field Annual Report Leadership at GNF presented updates on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on events and sports at the park. The company had a 94 percent decline in revenue year-over-year. However, the Reno Aces have a new ten-year partnership with the Arizona Diamondbacks and deeper connections with Major League Baseball. The Aces have applied to the state to allow 20% capacity for fans in the stands, with hope for an increase later in the spring. This press release was produced by the City of Reno.
