LA GRANGE, IL — A teenager in a moving car reached out a car window and tried to grab a purse from a pedestrian early Friday afternoon in La Grange, police said. Near Madison and Hillgrove avenues, a woman said she was walking with her purse under her arm and felt a push to her purse coming from behind, according to a La Grange police news release. She turned around and saw a male teenager leaning out of the front passenger window to his waist line, reaching to grab her purse, police said. When the teen knew she was aware, he told the driver to leave, police said. The car sped away and was later spotted by officers nearby, according to the release. The car was described as a gray or black Chrysler 200 with an Indiana license plate of K628683. The woman was not injured in the incident, and nothing was taken, according to the release. The suspect car and occupants have been linked to other incidents occurring in surrounding towns, police said. Police said they have increased patrols throughout the village.
