CLEVELAND — A virtual town hall discussing the COVID-19 vaccine will be held Sunday. The town hall will start at 2 p.m. "Our community is in dire need of support to overcome the negative economic, emotional and physical effects of COVID-19," said Rev. James Quincy of Lee Road Baptist Church. "We are working to deliver critical support." The Greater Cleveland Congregations (GCC) will lead the town hall, which will address concerns around vaccine accessibility, resources and support within the faith community in Cleveland. The event will also serve as a closing celebration for Black History Month. "The fight against COVID-19 runs concurrent with the fight against the same structural and institutional forces which prevents blacks and people of color from experiencing equal care, equal access and equal treatment," said Rev. Dr. Jawanza Karriem Colvin, pastor of Olivet Institutional Baptist Church and GCC Color of Health Co-Chair. Black medical professionals, scientists, community stakeholders and faith leaders will participate in the town hall. They will answer questions from the audience, provide information about the vaccine and share data on the vaccine.
