Description
CHARLOTTE, NC — St. Patrick's Day is on the horizon, however one beloved green-tinged Queen City event has been canceled this year. The U.S. National Whitewater Center's annual Green River Festival will not take place in 2021 due to the pandemic, it said.
The annual all-day festival includes an Irish breakfast, yoga, the greening of the river and live music.
"As with all public health matters, the Whitewater Center relies on information and guidance from health and safety professionals and public health officials," Jeffrey Wise, chief executive officer for the center, said in a statement. "The COVID-19 situation is currently evolving in a rapid and unknown manner. In an abundance of caution, we have made the decision to cancel Green River Revival at this time."
One Whitewater Center tradition will continue this year, however. The Color Me Green 5K Trail Run is set for Saturday, March 13. More information about the race and how to register may be found here.
