Description

I have a custom iguana enclosure I built for my red iguana. 5’x6’x3’ and a red iguana that I need to rehome as soon as possible. I accepted a new job that’s going to have me gone over 50% of the time. It breaks my heart to have to get rid of the enclosure and rehome him but he won’t get the time or attention Ben needs or deserves if I don’t. I do woodworking as a passionate hobby so the enclosure is pretty nice. Large acrylic doors on the front and two windows on each side. Large natural branch plus artificial vines inside plus a couple shelves I built in. Includes an Arcadia 48” uvb fixture and bulb (over $100 by itseld), two heat lamp domes with one basking bulb and one heat emitter. I just use a large plastic tub in the bottom as a pool. There’s an adjustable vent on the bottom to help regulate temperature and humidity. Holds humidity very very well. I’ve added a picture that shows that you can actually make it foggy inside with little effort. I can hold 70% with the humidifier still barely above low. Been painted and sealed to be safe for the iguana and the moisture. Similar enclosures if bought retail go for $1500 to $5000. I’m just asking $500 to ensure he goes to a good home. I have more than that in materials to build it. Tongue and grooved all the joints. Used 1/2” sanded plywood. Sits on quality coasters so it’s easy to move around. The iguana is still basically a baby. Well under a year old. Very healthy. Still working on taming, bonding. I can reach in and pet him. He flares up but doesn’t attempt to run away. May whip his tail but they’re hesitant whips and don’t hurt. He’s still relatively small and is progressing very nicely. I’ve been taking my time with him. No forced handlings unless absolutely necessary. Nice solid body already. Eats greens and veggies excellent. Enjoys mango and the occasional blueberries and apples. I’ve giving him calcium and vitamins two to three times a week. I’m going to miss him. $500. I can help you get the enclosure out of the house and in your truck or trailer. It will not fit in a suv. It does not come apart. Would prefer you bring your own travel container for him. Something like a large plastic tote with air holes. Would highly prefer someone with experience with iguanas and understand their environment and diet requirements and proper handling and bonding.
