TUCSON, AZ — A missing man's body was found in the western part of Saguaro National Park Wednesday, officials said.
A news release from the Pima County Sheriff's Department said deputies received information from the U.S. National Park Service that a man had been found in the park at 11:39 a.m.
According to the department, search and rescue deputies responded to the area and were able to identify the dead man as 78-year-old William Trotter. Trotter had been reported missing on Feb. 9 by friends after he had not been seen for days.
Andy Fisher, a spokesperson for Saguaro National Park, told Patch that their team assisted sheriff's deputies Wednesday but are no longer involved in the investigation.
The news release said authorities do not believe Trotter's death was suspicious but an investigation is ongoing while an autopsy is conducted.
