I think the most important link in this chain right now is THE DRUMMER. Since I want to be on the mic up front, I want to teach an already experienced drummer how to really play like this. Everything is flipped in this style of music. You aren't smashing down on the 1 count of each bar. you're pulling things out on purpose to let everything breathe and not really hitting anything. Everything happens on the upstroke, not the downstroke. It has that swing, like in Jazz music. First lesson completed! Peace out!
