Description
WORCESTER, MA — It's cold, the trees are still bare, and last week's fresh snow is now just dirty ice clogging the gutter. In other words, spring can't get here soon enough.
Just in time, the Worcester Art Museum's (WAM) annual "Flora in Winter" exhibition began on Thursday, pairing magnificent flower arrangements with the museum's collection.
The exhibit features 24 floral arrangements inspired by WAM's other ongoing exhibition, "The Kimono in Print: 300 Years of Japanese Design." The museum is also sponsoring a free (virtual) tour of art — including sculptures, paintings and photos — inspired by flowers.
Thanks to the pandemic, in-person visits to "Flora in Winter" are closed to all but museum members. But that might make the exhibit a little easier to see. WAM is offering virtual tour packages this year, allowing anyone to see the arrangements from the comfort of home.
Like any flower, WAM's "Flora in Winter" only lasts a limited time. The exhibit runs through Sunday, including the virtual tour packages. Visit the WAM website for details on how take the virtual tour, or how to become a member.
