Local business owner with physical disability is hiring weekend staff. Great second job for those looking to get into mechanical, software, or electrical engineering and desiring some hands on experience. Willing to train the right candidate. Personality matters more than experience. Owner has Cerebral Palsy and manages his own personal care staff including hiring and scheduling. Pay is $12.60/hr and no experience or certification required! While health care or personal care experience is a plus, it is not required. Candidates cannot have lifting restrictions, as job requires assistance with transfers and possibly running machinery in the shop. Training is available for the right candidate. Morning routine includes getting client dressed, cooking and feeding him breakfast, and other personal care such as toileting, etc. to get him ready to go to work. Don't worry if you have no experience with this, he'll talk you through everything and a trainer will go over it as well. Then it's off to the shop to program, build, fabricate, grind, weld, or whatever the current project calls for! Evening routine may consist of: cook and feed client dinner, possibly assist with shower, and other personal care such as grooming, oral care, etc. Light housekeeping such as sweeping the shop or apartment and errands such as running to pick up parts or grab food may also be required. Hours can be negotiated. Some staff in the past have wanted as many hours as possible, while at other times their have been two people each doing a shorter shift. As the client will be spending most of his weekend with the person hired, it is important that both staff and client enjoy spending time together. Ideal candidates will have some sort of interest in building stuff or problem solving, or at least the desire to learn.
