Ya know you're correct. There is no law that says a sitting president has to release his returns. All of the previous presidents did it in good faith to show Americans they pay their fair share. The difference with Trump is that HE said he'd release them. He mentioned it at every rally, every interview. He never did. As for the investigation, I would bet it's politically motivated. Most are. Trump did himself no favors during the early stages of the pandemic with the way he spoke of NY. To the other posters comment about it not mattering who started the process, he's right. In this case they would have listened to the claims with a cynical eye considering who's telling the tale. But if anything that was claimed was verifiable, investigators might then take up the case depending who it is. In this case, Donald obviously pissed off Cuomo. On the smell test comments, it's Trump who stinks to high heaven. Not only has he been a waste of taxpayer money, he's not even a decent human being. No big deal he is living in his luxurious home not a prison cell. The reason Mueller turned over to Vance the Cohen trial unlike all the others he prosecuted was to go after Trump. Mueller could have done the same as Vance but #1 he didn't think he had the time and #2 he was laying a booby trap for a civil case. Totally unethical not that you care but never the less. Trump was fighting not to turn over his tax returns for the same reason people don't have to testify at their own trial, let the prosecution do the work. People don't have to drop their shorts because you want them to, your reasoning is unsophisticated and juvenile and ignores the law. If the prosecutors claim this was a multi year on going case they could easily provide the public with records of it which they haven't so I don't particularly trust their word. The only mention of him being investigated for tax fraud that I can find was a NY Times article making allegations and the Times isn't known for their accuracy particularly when it comes to Trump since they all but convicted him in print of collusion and impeachment charges all that failed miserably. You have no evidence of your allegations, you say them as if they're proven but they're not, in fact I allege you are one of millions of Democrats suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome and will always have some crime to allege against him. You've been trained like a seal to bark when his name is mentioned the only question is what's the treat they give you afterwards.
