Description

SALEM, MA — The newly revitalized Artists' Row Public Artist in Residence initiative is looking for participation in this year's showcase on New Derby Street. The initiative includes one paid, eight-month artist-in-residence position, and provides artists with space to build their audience through daily engagement with residents and visitors to Salem. Artists' Row is located at 24 New Derby Street across from Old Town Hall and Derby Square. It consists of four artist showcases as part of a public plaza and pedestrian way. Participation in the program is aimed at being a springboard of opportunity for artists in an animated public place. "The city is interested in uses that will contribute to the vibrancy of the Artists' Row community and this important gateway to Salem's bustling downtown," the city said. Examples of showcased talents include handcrafted artwork and products, performances, art "happenings," art "interventions," art-making and temporary public art installation. More information on the program can be found here. Did you find this article useful? Invite a friend to subscribe to Patch.
