MANATEE COUNTY, FL — A Bradenton CVS at 520 First Street West is one of the first CVS pharmacies to offer the coronavirus vaccine in Florida.
At a Tuesday news conference in Hialeah, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that 81 CVS-owned pharmacies in Florida will begin administering the vaccine Thursday.
This includes 31 Navarro Discount Pharmacies and 35 CVS Pharmacy y más stores in South Florida, as well as 15 CVS pharmacies across 13 counties.
Vaccines will be offered at one CVS in the following counties: Collier, Escambia, Flagler, Gasdsen, Hendry, Hillsborough, Manatee, Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, St. Lucie and Volusia. There will also be two each in Broward and Polk counties, DeSantis said.
These locations "were selected to ensure vaccines reach underserved areas," the governor said.
In addition to these select CVS locations, other retail pharmacies in Florida that offer the COVID-19 vaccine include Publix, Winn-Dixie and Walmart.

On Wednesday, appointments were made available to seniors 65 and older, as well as frontline health care and EMS workers, in accordance with an executive order from the governor that prioritizes these groups during the first phase of the vaccine rollout.
Appointments can be booked online here or by calling 800-746-7287. As of Wednesday afternoon, all available appointments at the Bradenton location were fully booked. CVS' COVID-19 vaccine website noted that "availability can change quickly based on demand."
