GAITHERSBURG, MD — An employee at Shady Grove Middle School is on administrative leave after they were caught on camera engaging in "inappropriate behavior," according to the school's principal. In a letter sent to families, Principal Alana Murray described Monday's incident as "serious" and said that it was being by law enforcement. She did not disclose what exactly happened, but said it took place during an eighth-grade class. "It was brought to our attention that a staff member was seen on screen in a breakout room engaged in inappropriate behavior. This incident was recorded and posted on social media," Murray wrote. "We ask that any student who may have this video posted on social media platforms take down the content and refrain from sharing with other students." Montgomery County Public Schools declined to comment on the matter, citing the ongoing investigation. Speaking with multiple media outlets, the staff member said it was unintentional and thought that class was over.
