Description

The Bel Air Police (BAPD) Department recently partnered with the Local Government Insurance Trust (LGIT) to host "Implicit Bias Training" to our officers and dozens of officers from Police Departments around the state. Implicit bias are unconscious feelings about difference between people, including disability, gender, age, body size, or race/ethnicity. Many of the conflicts that exist between law enforcement and the communities they serve may be decreased or deescalated if individual officers have a better understanding (and recognize) implicit bias and the role it plays during interactions with the public. The BAPD remains proud, honored, and committed in our partnership with LGIT and Dr. Kris Marsh (PhD – University of Maryland – College of Behavioral & Social Services) in sponsoring and supporting such valuable training of local law enforcement.
