Press release from Shreve Memorial Library: February 25, 2021 Shreve Memorial Library is partnering with The Hub: Urban Ministry to help fill the bin for those in need. Now through March 31, the public can help Shreve Memorial Library fill the bin with nonperishable food items to be donated to The Hub's Eatwell food pantry. Rally boxes are located at all Shreveport locations of Shreve Memorial Library. The Hub is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to give everyone in Shreveport access to a restored life. Their programs include Purchased: Not for Sale, focusing on rescue and recovery of women and children who have been sexually exploited, and The Lovewell Center, a day shelter for people experiencing poverty and those needing access to immediate physical resources. The Hub's food pantry, The Eatwell, is where dozens of Lovewell members "shop" for groceries each week. Shreve Memorial Library is collecting non-perishable food items to be donated to The Eatwell. Patrons are asked to help the library fill the bin with items like hearty soups, canned fruit, granola and protein bars, tuna fish and canned meats, fruit snacks, oatmeal packets, individual snacks, peanut butter, and other filling, nonperishable food items. As an incentive for helping the library fill the bin, overdue fines will be waived for patrons who donate. Charges for lost or damaged items do not apply.
