147 District 228 Students Earn Industry Credentials

February is CTE or National Career and Technical Education Month® which is a public awareness campaign that celebrates the value of CTE and the achievements and accomplishments of CTE programs across the country. Bremen High School District 228, which includes Bremen High School, Tinley Park High School, Hillcrest High School, and Oak Forest High School, regularly offers its students the opportunity to take Career & Technical Education courses and earn industry credentials. The District is proud to announce that 147 students earned an industry credential during the first semester for one of the following: Automotive Service SafetyMandated ReporterServSafe Food HandlerOSHA 10 hour The 147 students who earned their industry credentials have met the State's goal of 60 percent of all Illinoisans acquiring a postsecondary degree or credential by 2025. This is an achievement students should be proud of and one that will help students build their resume and career-ready skills. District 228 Students are encouraged to continue learning certifications during high school and beyond. Several courses are offered at District 228 schools to help students achieve additional industry credentials These courses include Career Practicum, Introduction to Culinary Arts, Culinary Arts, DECA, BPA, FCCLA, Accounting, Automotive Technology, Household Repair, Graphic Design, and Child Care. CTE provides students many benefits which include: -Preparing students for high-skill, high-wage, in-demand employment -Providing skills, knowledge, and confidence students need to thrive in college and careers -Emphasizing real-world skills within a selected career focus -Providing practical knowledge while discovering and preparing for success in potential careers -Providing opportunities to develop technical and employability skills District students who achieved their industry credentials during the first semester will receive a letter and their certificate of achievement through the mail in the coming weeks.
