MURRIETA, CA — A man suspected of becoming violent and shooting at a vehicle in Murrieta remained jailed Wednesday. Justin Hudggins, 19, of Hemet was arrested Monday night by Murrieta police following the shooting incident earlier in the day in the 33000 block of Nandina Lane. At the location, which is a residential neighborhood, Hudggins and an unnamed victim got into an altercation stemming from a child custody exchange. During the argument, Hudggins became violent and fired two rounds into the victim's parked car, according to the Murrieta Police Department. He fled the scene before police arrived, but was later tracked down in Hemet and was arrested during a traffic stop after being found in possession of a 9mm handgun with an extended magazine, Murrieta police said. Hudggins was booked into Southwest Detention Center on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting corporal injury on a spouse/coinhabitant, shooting at a vehicle, and felony vandalism, according to jail records. He was being held in lieu of $500,000 bail and was due to appear in court Thursday. A 17-year-old male from Gardena was in the vehicle with Hudggins and was arrested for being in possession of a loaded weapon, according to Murrieta police. He was booked into Juvenile Hall. His identity was not released due to his age.
