Press release from the Town of Huntersville: Posted on: February 24, 2021 Posted on: February 24, 2021 CRTPO Releases New Video to Highlight 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) The Metropolitan Transportation Plan, or MTP, is a plan that documents the region's vision for the future and establishes goals, objectives, and transportation priorities over the next 20+ years to help achieve that vision. This plan considers all surface transportation modes (driving, bicycling, walking, riding transit, freight movement) while also thinking about impacts to the environment, the economy, public health, and overall quality of life. It also identifies ways to fund needed projects, prioritizes how funding is spent, and establishes metrics to measure if we are moving in the right direction. The Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization, or CRTPO, is currently updating the MTP for the Charlotte Region, which covers all of Iredell and Mecklenburg counties and a portion of Union County. The 2050 MTP will be adopted in March 2022. A new public engagement video has been posted to the 2050mtp.org website regarding the development of the fiscally constrained project list. The video can be accessed here - https://vimeo.com/503653931/fc0b094d9f 2050 MTP ProjectsA significant component of the MTP is the project list, which identifies priority projects of all modes through the year 2050. Each of the jurisdictions within CRTPO's planning area had an opportunity (Jan 25 – Feb 12, 2021) to submit projects for consideration in the MTP. These projects will be evaluated in Spring 2021 and then the public will also have an opportunity to provide input on the prioritized project list.
