Description

*** I am looking for females that look different from the girls I already have. I have visual impairments and I want to be able to tell them apart. <3 *** Hi there! I am 20 years old and I currently own 5 rats. Their cage is suitable for 15 females, so currently each rat has about 5.6 cubic feet to play around. (Girls need 1.5 males need 2 cubic feet, but I prefer to go above that.) I am looking for babies (6-12 weeks old) that do not look like the girls I have already. I currently have the girls in the pictures, so any coat and color variations that I don’t have already, I’m keeping my eyes open for. I only want females because I don’t want to neuter the boys unless it was medically necessary. Already neutered males are also up for consideration. They have a bioactive base that gives them 5+ cubic feet of digging space for tunnels and caves. They are never/rarely forced out of their cage. We want them to be comfortable with us, so we open the front of the cage and give them the option to come out, or stay in their safe zone. We try to encourage them to come out for at least an hour a day. They are also getting a play house. It is being built for them right now, but it is designed for supervised playtime. That way, they can get more stimulation outside of their cage while still feeling safe. There are no children in the household. Everyone is 20 or older, and 3 people are working together to take care of the rats. They are still young, but will be getting a better 16 inch wheel soon. They are fed a rat mix I made that includes: oxbow young rat pellets, Cheerios, dried noodles, died veggies, bird seed, nuts, dog food, and more. This is just what I scatter feed, however they also get fresh fruits and veggies. Their favorite food is chicken however. I have a savings fund for the vet, so the rats will always have vet care when needed. We give ourselves a 24 hour rule. The second we notice symptoms, I reach out to breeders and other rat owners to see if anything can be done at home or if a vet is necessary. I take their advice and if there is no improvement within 24 hours, they are all at the vets office. Emergencies will be treated as if they are life threatening. I am trying to find a 24 hour exotic vet in case of an emergency. We believe it is cruel to not take them to the vet because they are small animals. They are our family and we love them like our dogs. Coat colors I am currently NOT looking for: - fawn - black hooded -tan hooded -hairless -brown/grey with white belly Coat colors I am ACTIVELY looking for: -seal pointed Himalayan/ Siamese -curly haired or long haired silver/blue Any other coat colors are also considered as their personality is what matters most!! I just like being able to tell them apart from a distance. I have visual disabilities so it is a lot easier for me if they stand out. I already have trouble with a few of them because of the color of their head. If you have any female rats available that fit the description, I would love to have a conversation with you to see if they’d be a good fit. We really love our girls, so we want to make sure any new rat coming in will be okay with them. Introductions have never been a problem. Please text me if you have any girls available that fit this description! I put a lot of time and research into them so they’d have an amazing life with me!
