Press release from the City of Berkeley: February 24, 2021 Berkeley, California (Wednesday, February 24, 2021) - On February 20th at 4:15 am, officers responded to the 2000 block of Essex Street on a report of a person screaming profanities and then breaking into a building. When officers arrived, the suspect walked out of the building to the sidewalk where he was detained. When officers searched the suspect, they found a digital scale and 38+ grams of methamphetamine. The suspect (a 35-year-old man, no address) was arrested on suspicion of burglary, possession of drugs for sale as well as two outstanding arrest warrants.
