Description
Peanut butter is a friendly fuzzy lop. He enjoys being pet and given treats. Generally, he is very fearless, however, he does not like being picked up. We’d recommend that you build a bond with him by laying on the floor, squatting down, or reading/watching tv with him and offering pets/treats. Because of his long luxurious fur, he will need a home that is dedicated to grooming for the next 10+ years. Without being brushed he will get tight mats under his topcoat, especially under his chin, tummy, and butt area. We can recommend grooming tools that will make this an easy and quick routine. Peanut Butter will be available once he is neutered and we have time to work on perfecting his litter training. So far, he’s been amazing when it comes to peeing in his litterbox, we just need to work on territorial pooping. For most of the 3 years he has been alive he was confined to a very small cage. It was so small he could hardly turn his body and he was never allowed out of the cage unless it was being cleaned, which most likely wasn’t as often as it should have been. He was owned by a teenage girl who lost interest in him and the other bunny she had. We were told by the relative who took them that they were being neglected. The other rabbit that Carson was next to was in the same sort of cage and rarely got out. When the relative who took the bunnies had let him out, the rabbit was excited to finally have freedom. Hopping and running around, but his muscles were so weak from being confined that he fractured his spine and he had to be euthanized... Carson was under-socialized and fed a poor quality diet. His nails had not been trimmed in a year. We knew that he needed our help. Despite the lack of funds and space we decided to take him in after hearing the story about the two rabbits. He is making wonderful progress now that we have been working with him. He enjoys pets and chin scratches. He will take treats from your hands and he is enjoying being slowly acclimated to having more space. Carson also shows a lot of interest in other rabbits. So we think he’d do best in a home with a spayed companion. Age: 3 years Status: Needs to be Neutered - Accepting Adoption Applications Please email us with questions or for an adoption application.
