Summary Assist in the installation of wet, dry, pre-action and deluge fire protection piping, valves and accessories for commercial, residential buildings, and industrial applications in compliance with current codes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • Assist in the installation and repair of fire sprinkler systems per specifications • Lays out strings (pipe) along designated pipeline settings in field. • Connects pipe, using snap lock or wrench to tighten collar clamp. • Attaches revolving sprinkler heads to vertical pipes at designated points along pipeline. • Communicate with foreman and/or superintendent any safety hazards and discrepancies found on job site. • Maintain a clean and safe work area. • Adhere to company safe working policies and procedures at all times. Education and/or Experience High School Diploma or GED; or 0-6 months related experience or training. Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Physical Demands Employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb 8-10 ft ladders, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; frequently required to talk or hear; lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment Employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
