Hi - Anyone experienced playing in soul bands, philly soul, old-style R&B vocal groups? Such a staple of Philly music history but unfortunately not much happening these days in the genre. This kind of music needs more contemporary homage, continuation, and exploration! I'm talking that raw, 60's +70's, Harold Melvin & Blues Notes, Jerry Butler, Smokey Robinson & Miracles, The Moments/Ray+ Goodman+Brown, O'Jays, Luther Ingram, Manhattans kind of zone. Understated, unaffected, groovy, and tight but still haunting, atmospheric, and beautiful. I'm a singer and guitar player, experience and enjoyment writing songs - happy to do one or all of those things with a group. Other singers and writers and guitar players also welcome, along with bass, drums, keys, strings, etc. Basically, if you have played in this idiom or just love this music and sing or play an instrument and want to take part, give me a shout!
