The 7th annual Dr. Daniel Havey Memorial 5K Run will happen virtually to support mental health awareness. The 7th annual Dr. Daniel Havey Memorial 5K Run will not happen in person due to COVID restrictions. This year we are planning to stretch the event across an entire week from March 7th-14th to give you as much flexibility to run/walk! While we are disappointed that we will not see everyone in person we think that the spirit of this event can still go on even during social distaning. So here are some more details: Get out of the house during the week of 3/7-3/14 and do your own run/walk! The distance doesn't matter!Wear green (or buy a shirt!), it was Daniel Havey's favorite color and is the color for mental health awarness.Record a short clip or snap a picture and email them to [email protected] to help us document the event (by 3/12 @ 7pm)Also feel free to spread the love on social media by posting pictures/videos and tag @jmuchemistry and use #forHavey.If you are looking for a great photo backdrop, we will be painting the sprit rock that is in the Astronomy Park (to the left of the Chemistry building) on the JMU campus. We have T-shirts for sale which will be mailed to you or can be picked up on campus at specific times. So please join us in spreading the word about the importance of speaking openly about mental health! This has become even more important in the last year as these times have had a serious impact on mental health world wide. Daniel was a faculty member in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry who inspired students and colleagues. He was an amazing man who left us all too soon. Please help us in support his memory and his dedication to helping students by supporting and participating in this run/walk.
