WILMINGTON, MA — Nine candidates have taken out papers to run in the April 24 Wilmington town election, Town Clerk Christine Touma-Conway said Monday. They include four candidates running for the remaining two years of Steve Bjork's School Committee seat, which the Board of Selectmen chose to put on the ballot Feb. 17 after Bjork announced his resignation. School Committee Members Mary Jane Byrnes and David Ragsdale face challengers for their seats. Incumbent Selectman Jonathan Eaton took out papers but has since decided not to run for re-election. He is supporting Lilia Maselli's candidacy. Incumbent Shawsheen Tech School Committee member James Gillis has not taken out papers, but Charles Fiore Jr. is running for that seat. But no one has taken out papers to run for town moderator, with incumbent Rob Peterson not running, or the Housing Authority seat currently held by Ioannis Alefantis. One resident has taken out papers for two seats but will only be able to return them to enter one race officially, Touma-Conway said. The following candidates have taken out papers.
