The Elizabeth River Trail's award-winning managed meadow and edible orchard in Chelsea needs a little spring cleaning!
First planted in December 2017, the meadow features native wildflowers, grasses and edible fruit trees. It requires maintenance a couple of times a year - that's where you come in. From raking to helping us stake and rope off the meadow, we need your help to keep the flowers safe and blooming all year long!
Volunteers are needed from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm on Saturday, March 27, 2020. Meet at 1129 Boissevain Avenue, near Benchtop Brewing Company's parking lot on the ERT. In order to maintain safe social distancing, this event will be limited to 10 volunteers. **ADVANCE REGISTRATION IN REQUIRED**. Masks required at any point social distancing of 6 feet cannot be observed.
Activities include:
- Prepping/Raking the meadow
- Collecting litter along the Trail
- Sowing the seed bombs
- Staking and roping off meadow
Parking is available on street in the Chelsea neighborhood. Contact [email protected] with questions.
Please bring your own masks and water. Extra bottled water and disposable masks will be available if needed. Sanitizer, snacks, work gloves and trash bags will be provided.
