FRAMINGHAM, MA — A man was injured after falling off a ladder at the Bancroft Lofts construction site in Framingham on Monday morning, which is at least the second fall incident at the site since 2019. Framingham firefighters responded to the 59 Fountain St. site near 8:30 a.m. Monday on a report of an injured person. An approximately 30-year-old man fell about 10 feet off a ladder and injured his shoulder, according to the fire department. He was taken to UMass Memorial in Worcester for treatment. In September 2019, a worker was seriously injured after he fell about 20 feet off a building at the site, according to a police report. That incident was among several problems at the site that led to the developer, Washington Square Ventures, withdrawing its application for a $1.6 million tax break. Three contractors associated with the development — Dellbrook Construction LLC, GS Siding and TCT Contractors — were investigated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) after the 2019 fall. OSHA handed out about $11,000 fines to GS Siding and TCT Contractors in April 2020, according to inspection records. The developer is renovating the former Bancroft Building to add 160 loft-style apartments. There's also a separate new building on the site that will contain about 98 units, according to development plans. The developer will begin leasing the apartments in 2021, according to the Bancroft Lofts website.
