Elderly Woman Killed By School Bus While Crossing Nassau Road

OCEANSIDE, NY — An elderly woman was killed Wednesday morning after she was hit by a school bus while crossing a road in Oceanside. According to Nassau County police, an 81-year-old woman was crossing Nassau Road near Weidner Avenue at 8:03 a.m. when she was hit by a 2016 Ford school bus heading east on Weidner Avenue. The woman suffered traumatic head injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 8:28 a.m. Police have not released the woman's name. No one else was injured. Police say the driver remained at the scene, and that the investigation is ongoing.
