WALLINGFORD, CT — The Wallingford Board of Education this week approved a $107.8 million budget request for the 2021-22 school year, according to Superintendent Salvatore Menzo. The budget request, which represents a 1.93 percent increase over the current spending plan, will be sent to Mayor William Dickinson Jr. for review. Dickinson will release his proposed municipal budget by April 1, and it will then go to the Town Council for review. The Meriden Record-Journal reports the school board's approved budget cut nearly $208,000 from Menzo's original proposal. Menzo's original proposed budget of $108 million represented an increase of 2.13 percent. The school board's 5-4 vote was along party lines with Republicans in favor of cutting the request to $107.8 million. Read more at the Meriden Record-Journal here.
