The Respite Caregiver Readiness Workshop is a day-long in-person CPR / First Aid certification training with a behavior education component.
This in-person, day-long workshop will fulfill the CPR/First Aid training certification requirement needed to provide respite care for individuals with developmental disabilities. It will also provide tips, tools and strategies for supporting individuals with the types of behavior and communication challenges often accompany developmental disabilities.
This workshop includes:
American Heart Association CPR / First Aid training certificationTips, tools & strategies for supporting individuals with developmental disabilities to support them safely at home, provided by Behavioral Intervention for Autism (BIA). BIA provides ABA services (Applied Behavior Analysis) to families whose children are affected by autism and other behavioral and developmental conditions. Agency information for those interested in respite care employment opportunities Breakfast and Lunch will be provided on site.This workshop is valued at over $100. Thanks to a grant from the Community Emergency Response Volunteers of the Monterey Peninsula (CERV), Special Kids Connect is able to offer this opportunity for only $25 per person. (After April 1, the cost is $35.)
Attendees must wear face masks and stay socially distanced at all times during the workshop. Registration is extremely limited so that participants can maintain safe distances from each other and the instructors during the entire day.
