Dog Dies, Manchester Man Ejected After Rollover Crash In Pelham

PELHAM, NH — Pelham police are investigating an early morning crash on Wednesday that killed a dog and left a driver injured and flown to Massachusetts for treatment. At just after midnight, police were sent to Bridge Street near Old Gage Hill Road for a single-vehicle accident. When they arrived, they found a vehicle on its roof, Sgt. Adam Thistle of the Pelham Police Department stated. "Upon arrival, (officers) located a vehicle that had been traveling south, crossed to the wrong side of the road, drove off the road approximately 118 feet before hitting rock ledge and a tree," he said. "The vehicle traveled approximately another 110 feet after the impact before coming to a rest on its roof." The driver, David Voight, 30, of Manchester was ejected from the vehicle and located conscious, in the snow, a short distance away from the accident, Thistle said. He was flown to the Lahey Hospital in Burlington, Massachusetts. Salem firefighters took a dog, who was inside of the vehicle, to the Rockingham Emergency Veterinary Hospital in Windham, where it died from injuries sustained in the crash, Thistle stated. Bridge Street in Pelham was closed for about two and a half hours and the accident remains under investigation.
