Cat Head Creek Day Paddle, part of the Georgia Conservancy's "Hope For The Coast"
Explore the lower Altamaha River delta with the Georgia Conservancy’s Charles McMillan and our friends at Southeast Adventure Outfitters. Leaving from Darien, our small group will paddle with the tide up the Darien River to Cat Head Creek, a beautiful estuary of the Altamaha River. We will explore a number of saltwater habitats and some of the abandoned rice fields associated with the infamous and tragic Pierce Butler Plantation, scene of the “Great Weeping Time.” Our group will meet in Darien at 11 AM before getting on the water around noon.
