When To Expect New Appointments For RI Coronavirus Vaccine Sites

CRANSTON, RI — As more Rhode Islanders become eligible to sign up to receive their coronavirus vaccine, appointments continue to fill quickly since demand still far outpaces the state's supply of doses. Tuesday morning, the Department of Health provided some insight into when residents can expect new appointments to open at the two state-run vaccine sites. New appointments will be made available twice a week for the two sites, which are at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence and Sockanosset Cross Road in Cranston. These new appointments will be open for registration starting 9 a.m. on Tuesdays and 5 p.m. on Fridays, with numbers dependent on the current supply of doses available in the state. Additional appointments will also be added throughout the week as they become available, the department said. To schedule an appointment, Rhode Islanders can visit vaccinateRI.org. Those who do not have internet access can call 844-930-1779. At this time, vaccine appointments are available to Rhode Islanders aged 65 and older. Along with the two state-run sites, residents can also sign up for appointments through their city or town or at a pharmacy. Dr. Nicole Alexander-Scott, the director of the Department of Health, encouraged residents in the 65-to-74 age group to make appointments at a state-run site, leaving the far more scarce community appointments for the oldest residents.
