Description
PROVIDENCE, RI — Rhode Island's March 2 special election is fast approaching, and there's still time to for voters to return their mail ballots.
Since Election Day a week away, Secretary of State Nellie Gorbea encouraged voters who have not yet returned their mail ballots to do so using a drop box instead of mailing them.
"If you haven't returned your special election mail ballot yet, don't risk having it arrive late by mail," Gorbea said. "Using a secure elections drop box is now the best way to ensure your mail ballot is received in time to be counted."
All mail ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on March 2 to be counted. Ballots postmarked on or before Election Day, but that arrive after the deadline, will not be accepted by the Board of Elections.
Secure election drop boxes are located in every city and town in the state. Voters can deposit their ballots in any box, not just the one in the town where they are registered to vote.
Find a full list of drop boxes on the Secretary of State's website.
Voters can also drop their ballots off at their local board of canvassers.
