ROLLING MEADOWS, IL — A GoFundMe has launched in support of a memorial for the victims of a Saturday night traffic accident on Illinois Route 53 near Kirchoff Road, Rolling Meadows. Four people were killed in the accident — Stacy Harris, 45, of Schaumburg, her son, Jeremy, 17, her sister, Herlanda Harris, 47, of Chicago, and Herlanda Harris' son Jimarion, 6. The GoFundMe, launched two days ago, had raised $6,395 of a $10,500 goal as of Tuesday afternoon. Ruben White is organizing the fundraiser on behalf of Jeannette Thomas. The campaign states, "This is an effort to raise money for the memorial of my nieces and nephews that died in a traffic accident as a result of a driver's neglect driving. " The deceased were traveling together in a 2019 blue Ford Fiesta, driven by Stacy Harris. As reported by WBBM-TV, the sisters had driven out to Rolling Meadows with Jimarion at around 11:30 p.m. to help Jeremy, whose car had stalled on the side of the road. The driver of the other car involved in the accident — a 32-year-old man from Bellwood — was traveling on Route 53 northbound at Kirchoff Road in a 2018 black Jeep Wrangler, according to a preliminary investigation. For unknown reasons, the driver of the Jeep veered off the roadway to the right striking the rear of the Ford Fiesta. The impact forced both vehicles to cross all lanes of traffic and come to rest on the left shoulder. The driver of the Jeep was taken by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and charges have not yet been filed in the case. GoFundMe is a Patch promotional partner.
