Human Remains In St. Clair County Identified, Arrest Made

ST. CLAIR COUNTY, AL —Human remains discovered in St. Clair County Sunday are believed to be those of missing Odenville man John Ash Scoggins. An acquaintance of Scoggins has been arrested in connection with his death. Scoggins was last seen Feb. 16, according to the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office. His remains were found in the Hunters Crossing area of Odenville. A forensic investigation is still pending. Joshua Phillip Kyle, 34, of Ashville, has been arrested and charged with murder and abuse of a corpse. Law enforcement officials have not said what the motive was behind the killing, nor has Scoggins' official cause of death been released.
