Description
WOBURN, MA — Tesla received approval from Woburn City Council recently to install ADA-accessible electric vehicle charging stations in the Commerce Way Target parking lot, clearing the way for the vehicle-maker to install more than a dozen total charging posts.
The auto-maker previously received approval to install charging posts in September, but had to return to the City Council on Feb. 2 due to a lack of accessible charging posts.
As first reported by the Daily Times Chronicle, Building Commissioner Thomas Quinn told the company they would not get their building permit without an additional stall, which would need City Council approval.
To meet that requirement, Tesla asked to add two additional accessible parking spaces and an extra charging post to the permit approved in September. The council approved the request unanimously.
The additional post brings the request to 12 Tesla charging posts, two Level II universal charging posts which each serve two vehicles and the additional Chargepoint, meaning 17 vehicles could charge simultaneously.
