Description

Join Linda Lombardo of Wild Heart Nature Connection for a guided forest walk at Downs Farm Preserve. Registration is limited and required to attend. For questions about this walk, please contact Taralynn Reynolds, outreach and education manager, Group for the East End, [email protected] A walk always includes opening our senses gently and slowly and noticing all the worlds within worlds and what’s in motion when it isn’t you. This time of the year is the advent of Spring. We sense the warming in the air as everything begins to thaw and yet, winter is still always present. Some of us take to heart the expression, “March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb.” We are usually eager for the lamb by now. It is also an Equinox month. The name “Equinox” is derived from the Latin aequus (equal) and nox (night). Around the equinox, day and night are shifting their presence. A shared relationship of light and dark. Tenderly Holding Springtime: Find signs of Springtime as you wander and take time to tenderly hold Springtime in your hands; explore it with all your senses in whatever way is comfortable for you. Relationship with Nature: What are the signs around you that nature is in relationship, even when it seems it’s not? Where are you in or out of relationship in your own life? The Lions and the Lambs: What evidence can you find of the lions and the lambs? By that, I mean what has survived the winter and was has succumbed? A downed tree, a sheltered sapling. Seek out the lions and the lambs of nature. A Newly Birthed Idea: Try connecting with another being in the forest (plant, tree, rock, water) and explore an old or new idea informed by the more-than- human world. What wants to be birthed in you? What old story or idea can be rebirthed as something new? It’s not about outcome but the process of opening up, like a Spring bud, to something new. Experiential scavenger hunt: using all your senses, or at least the ones you’re comfortable using, search for sounds, scents, textures and more, in a playful, easy way. Maybe try stretching your senses, using taste or balance. All precautions taken to create a safe and enjoyable nature connection in compliance with New York’s phase 4 reopening. Masks must be worn in the group. Please feel free to bring whatever you require to make this a safe and enjoyable experience. TICKETS: *there is an $8 materials fee due prior to the program. You can pay it directly to Linda on Venmo at LinLo52. Waivers will be emailed to you to be filled out to participate in the program. Linda Lombardo is a certified forest therapy guide and life coach. Linda finds beauty in the natural world: sharing it with others, photographing it, and writing about it.
